parmida

Parmida Vand (she/they) is an Iranian-Canadian multi-disciplinary artist working across film, theatre, and music. Born on Qeshm Island and raised in Toronto, she brings a rich cultural lens to her work as an actor, musician (under the moniker Päter), writer, and director. Vand’s screen credits include The Persian Version (Sundance Audience Award), Run The Burbs (CBC), and Orphan Black: Echoes (AMC). A graduate of George Brown Theatre School, Parmida has originated roles in new Canadian theatre and developed projects with independent theatre companies like Cahoots, Nowadays and Let Me In. As a director, she has helmed stage productions and music videos, including her own for “Nicotine Hallelujah,” which screened at the Austin Under the Stars Festival. As Päter, she’s released two EPs and the critically acclaimed LP 4-7 Company, blending indie rock with lyrical storytelling. She maintains a diverse practice across theatre, music, screen, and the spaces between.
Parmida's favorite ice cream flavour is mint chip and her favorite season is summer.
During theatre school Parmida shortened her last name from Kakavand to Vand. She's still not sure which one she likes better.
